Checking your browser…
Technical details
—What is an in-app browser?
When you tap a link inside Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat or LinkedIn, the page usually opens in a browser built into that app instead of Safari or Chrome. It looks like a normal browser, but it keeps its own cookies and settings, and the app that owns it controls what it can do.
Why it matters for creators and stores
- Visitors arrive logged out, so follows, subscribes and saved carts take extra steps.
- Checkout breaks more often: saved payment, passwords and wallet buttons may be missing.
- Analytics get gaps — sessions split when a visitor finally switches to their real browser.
See the numbers in our In-App Browser Report (2026).
FAQ
Is this checker free and private?
Yes. Detection runs entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to us.
Can I disable in-app browsers?
Not for your audience. Some apps (such as certain Facebook Android versions) let you, as a viewer, choose to open links externally. Otherwise use ••• → Open in browser per link.
How do I make my links open the app?
Use an app link (deep link). Our free deep link generator at /deep-link-generator builds iOS and Android app links for 78+ apps.
